La Citadelle de Namur en Segway

The Namur citadel by Segway

At the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse rivers, the Namur citadel is the town’s fortress. Dating from the Gallo-Roman period, it has been rebuilt many times.

A monument listed on the Exceptional Heritage of the Walloon Region, its current architecture is the work first of all of Baron Menno van Coehoorn, and subsequently of Sébastien Le Prestre, the Marquis of Vauban, who enhanced it after the siege implemented by Louis XIV in 1692.
